I have been working on my genealogy for better than 50 years and claim at least half of the people from this county! My 2nd cousin 4x removed is Pheobe Jane Slough who married to James A DePotty. I have recorded any DePotty’ s that I find are related to me but I have not found Martha. Who is she?

In 1955 and maybe a bit later changes were being made to our electricity. Under the old supply the power was sent to us using 25 cycle. 60 cycle had many benefits over 25 cycle. If you think of your lights being turned on and off 25 times per second, you would get a flickering effect. Now do the same thing only this time flick them on and off 60 times per second. The light would be much smothers. The change required that most electric appliances including washing machine, dryers, refrigerators and so on. Any appliance that used a motor to run needed to be upgraded. In some cases, it was only necessary to replace the drive motor. Other times the appliance needed to be replaced. Ah I was only 7 pr 8 years old at the time so that is all I can offer to this subject.
